Arise Together in Christ Season
1: Encountering Christ Today begins this week! Who is on the ARISE team? The ARISE team members are parishioners just like you: Louise Cavicchi, Maureen Feely, Linda Haglund, Cheryl Harris, Melissa Hogan, Reggie Jacobs, Mary Kuhn, Joe La Croix, Ellen McDonough, John Murray, Judy Murray, Patty Newbitt, Denise Quirk, Clare Urbanowicz and Marilyn Zedik. You can spot them at Mass wearing a name tag with the ARISE logo or speak to them at the ARISE display table after the weekend Masses. They are happy to answer any questions. How do I get involved in ARISE? We are looking for small community leaders and host homes. Training will be provided for the small community leaders. We ask that you keep the ARISE Team and this endeavor in prayer as we prepare for Season I Fall 2008 Encountering Christ. Where will the small communities meet? Small communities of 8-10 people will meet throughout the parish on days, and at times, that will suit everyone's schedule. We encourage you to consider hosting a community of friends and neighbors in your own home. We also hope to offer small communities where people are already gathered, i.e. after daily mass, during EDGE, Life Nights, or religious education in hopes that people will skip the quick trip to the store or dump and instead spend some time in prayer and reflection. We are in need of homes. If you have a dining room table or a living room that seats 8, you have room. "do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels." (Hebrews 13:2) We are also in need of leaders of each small community. Season I Encountering Christ Today begins the week of October 5, 2008. Sign up weekend is September 13-14 in the hospitality room but you don't need to wait! If you know your fall schedule and are interested in participating, please contact Ellen McDonough (see contact information above). What is ARISE Together in Christ? It's a three-year, parish centered process of spiritual renewal and evangelization that enables people to deepen their faith, develop a closer relationship with Christ, grow in community, and reach out in service to others. Who is ARISE Together in Christ for? ARISE Together In Christ is for everyone, from 16-96 years! It is for you, your family, friends, neighbors, those in college, parents, single people, couples. It is for those who attend mass daily and those who have not attended in years. It is for lay people and for those called to a vocation in the church. You are invited! Cardinal Sean O'Malley has invited every parish to participate in ARISE a process of renewal and evangelization. Visit
